Leave London Off The List
[Benazir Bhutto's] death is a reminder that terrorism anywhere, whether in New York, London, Tel Aviv or Rawalpindi, is an enemy of freedom.
Stirring words. Defiant words.
But, from the lips of Rudy Giuliani, as he seeks to win the American presidency, the inclusion of London turns this into an outrageous statement.
Remember when the IRA were bombing the heart out of London, and New York's then Mayor was cheerfully welcoming them to his city? It seems a remarkable U-turn for him to suddenly condemn terrorist attacks against London.
I believe Giuliani when he condemns terrorism in New York, or in Tel Aviv or Rawalpindi. But London? Sorry, when I hear him talk about London, and use it in his presidential campaign, I recall his welcoming the IRA to New York, and have to avoid being physically sick.
